A while back, OVH and Hetzner were considered really good for cheap unmanaged servers.
But, that was a while ago. I am out of touch with this industry lately.
How does the current recommendation list look like? I am not looking for the best bandwidth mix OR the best support time. I just need a reliable company that is unlikely to go out of business any time soon.
No strong preference in location.
Thanks for your time. Im looking forward to your reply.
hello,
For about 100eur, i can get managed Hetzner server: hetzner.com/managed-server
OR unmanaged Hetzner server + platinumservermanagement.com/ (or + myw.pt/devops).
What will be a better option?
I have no experience as System Administrator.
I will like to keep the server fast, optimized, and online.
I don't plan to host many websites on the server, I need a server for a couple of large websites.
So optimization of servers for sites is very important to me.
For optimization I mean, cache optimization, database optimization, server optimization for WordPress, etc...
Is anyone have experience with Hetzner managed servers?
Best Regards
I am looking for a good server or vps provider except (Hetzner & OVH).
Request:
-Good support
-Good bandwidth:
-Good cost
*Hetzner & OVH: It's really good, but I want to find more powerful new providers to experience the service, and expand the servers in Europe.
Thank you, and leave me some reviews
Hello,
We're looking for three unmanaged servers, each in a different datacenter within the US - preferably two coasts and central US. Outside of the US is not an option. We will expand this to 3 at each location eventually.
Minimum specs:
24 Core Xeon (2.0 GHz or faster)
128GB DDR4
200GB SSDs in RAID1
3.84TB SSD
100TB on 10Gbps port
IPMI is a must (We must be able to power off and on at will)
Clean IPs /29 on each host
While this is unmanaged, we want 24/7 US based support for hardware replacement
Budget is ~$250 USD/Mo for each host.
Use case is for deployment of a large web app. Datacenter redundancy is essential for uninterrupted access to at least one host at all times.
Note that we were using Purevoltage, which is an exceptional company and provided excellent service to us. However, at this time (soon to change), they do not have IPMI access or the ability for us to manage powering off/on the hosts via their KVM. We are doing multiple reloads of various virtualization options to find what we want to go forward with, which we discovered cannot be handled efficiently through ticketing.
Thank you for any recommendations.
Hello,
I've really strange issue with this careless company called Hetzner,
I've server with them for shared hosting, there was abuse for one site on it and they sent me mail to resolve this abuse in only 1 hour or they will block the service for the main server ip .
I've seen this mail after 2 hours, when all of my clients sites has been stop working , I checked my E-mail and i got this message on junk mail (no problem till now)
Then, I've sent reply to Hetzner abuse department, that i have solved this abused issue and deleted the abuse file from my client hosting site,
They didn't reply me for long hours, and keep blocking my main server ip which makes all my clients sites down !!
After that, i sent message to support, Hetzner support replied me with very strange reply !!
Please note that it's 02:20 CET Saturday morning. So currently there's no one available I regret. Most likely they will be back in office by Monday 08:00 CET.
They want me to wait more than 2 days with server down because they blocked it and went to the weekly vacation !!!
How Hetzner imagine the clients can wait more than 2 days with all sites down ? Could a company that respects its customers block server for 2 days till there employee ends the vacation ?
Do you think that clients can trust you again after making them losing there business ?
What is the regret that your company gives ? Does Hetzner really respect its clients ?
It's very bad experience with Hetzner
Looking to rent some dedicated storage servers with the following specs
- 4 servers
- 12-18 cores
- 64* or 128gb ram
- 80-100TB - SATA HDD/each + OS disks 250-500SSD
- 5 to 10gbps uplink unmetered
- Location [US] [EU] - [any State/City]
We would need an internal network connecting all these systems together @ 5-10gbps. Also, we would likely be looking to upgrade our external bandwidth over time.
[contract time] 2+ years / paid monthly
if anyone knows good providers please <<post here>>
I'm looking for dedicated in EU have own datacenter and have AMD Servers.
Dedicated managed or unmanaged, not OVH, Hetzner or similar i need serious company if have multi servers in EU better.
Looking for suggestions.
I'm a small business owner and developer since 2003. We have a few dedicated servers, each one with a different host. One of these hosts was sold and the new owner wants us to use a new server in a new location. We are considering switching to another host. This server runs some important client web sites, our own site, and web apps we're developing.
What we're looking for:
- unmanaged bare metal dedicated server, Intel Xeon 4c/8t minimum, 6 or 8 core preferred
- 16GB RAM, 32GB RAM preferred
- 1TB (or 960GB) SSD, 2 x SSD software RAID preferred
- FreeBSD 11 or 12 (our other servers are FreeBSD 11.4)
- $140/month or less (we're paying $130/month now for the current server, no SSD, 16GB)
- US data center, east coast preferred
Obviously we want a decent data center and good customer support but we also want a company who is going to be around for the next 10 years and isn't likely to be bought up by some Wall Street investment firm who doesn't care about the customers of the smaller hosting firms they're purchasing.
Hosts I'm researching:
- Vultr
- OVHcloud (the US branch)
- Linode
- Hivelocity
So far, OVH seems to have the exact hardware, price point, and data center but their billing system worries me.
If you have any experience with these hosts, good or bad, please share. If you work for one of these hosts, I'm open to offers.
thanks,
Robert
Hello,
I know that servers with EPYC CPUs are very reliable, but are Ryzen servers reliable enough? I've seen there're many Ryzen servers on sale on Hetzner. If I rent a Ryzen server, do I need to reboot it every some days? Thanks a lot.
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for a dedicated server with low latency (<2ms) to the Equinox NY4 data centre.
H/W wise:
min 6c/12t (8c better)
64gb mem
400gb ssd/nvme
high SLA on network availability
I have my own Windows OS, so need to be able to install it remotely.
I do not need high bandwidth so even a low 100gb/month with 100mb/s connection is ok for me as long as it's reliable and latency is as close to 0 as possible with NY4 datacentre.
I have a Ryzen 6c with 64gb/960gb SSD from Hetzner in Germany, but the latency is not great for what I need As an FYI, I'm paying about 50USD for the Hetzner. I'm expecting to pay a bit more than Hetzner, but not to break my budget either.
Please can you recommend any providers?
Thank you kindly.
I'm from Europe and looking at most offers in the north America, they all seem to have pretty limiting bandwidth or outrageous costs compared to European providers.
For the price of a Hetzner Ryzen 5 3600 box, best I could find with higher bandwidth limits (>100TB) was so long ago that I forgot from whom the offer even was, but I remember it was an i3... an i3 in a server for the same cost as the Ryzen 5 in EU.
I'm aware how different the marker and costs are compared to these two regions, but there must be some providers that offer more bandwidth for the price, right?
Is anyone able to point me to something that I can trust to be reliable meanwhile now blowing my wallet out into space.
At this point I'm looking for anything with appropriate specs (Ryzen 5 or newer Xeons), ~64GB RAM, >100TB transfer, 512-1TB SSD, optionally maybe an option for more IPs for not a lot of money? (>2$ per IP is too much for me)
My max budget would be ~50$-65$, that's what I'm aiming for.
Thanks in advance!
