I'm going to tell you how HostSlim.eu deceives me !

<<snipped>>

I saw their AD on WHT and I am looking for some good servers. Since I have a large number of servers at LeaseWeb that need to provide data transfer, I want to move to their data center.

I ordered 15 servers from them from 17th May at a cost of 1600 Euros.

They promised to deliver the server to me on May 20th, so that I have 10 days to transfer the server of LeaseWeb.

But now 22 days have passed and I have not received any available servers and they have sent me 2 damaged servers (no IPMI, no system installed)!

Importantly, they didn't with my consent to withhold money directly from my credit card. They are now closing the ticket and will not reply to any questions from me.

I have saved all the information records and if necessary, I will post them here.

Server Specs for home dedicated server

Hi all,

I'm new here and this my first post

So I'd like to get my own dedicated server and set it up at home to be used for games only but I have no idea what kind of specs that is needed when it comes to servers and the distribution of system resources such as CPU, RAM etc. Storage is self explained obviously.
I'm looking to host like a Minecraft server, 7 days to die server, Rust server etc but in general, if possible to say, how many game servers can you run on a single machine?
What is a good server Intel Xeon CPU these days that is not overkilling my needs to run a few game servers on the machine? Is 64 GB of RAM enough to start with?
What is best for my needs when it comes to the server type like a tower or a rack?

I'm just trying to get an estimated cost to set this all up and i'm a bit overwhelmed what is enough and not so my apologies if I don't provide much information so if you need any more details in order to assist, let me know and I'd be happy to be more specific in the topic .
Internet speed is not an issue as I have 1 Gbit up and down.

Thanks in advance!

Very happy with Hivelocity

I have some servers at Hivelocity, since 2017.

No network problems, 100% uptime, excellent hardware and support.

Yesterday, after 2 or 3 years, one of the backup disks on one of my servers, failed.

I opened a ticket asking how to change to a new HDD. To my surprise, the support offered the possibility to clone the disk to try to recover the data. Despite being a backup disk, it would be good to recover, as I had left some old accounts there.

Then they removed the HDD and cloned it in 3 hours, for a new HDD. And it worked! all recovered data. Of course, it will not always be possible to recover, it will depend on the problem that the HDD presents.

And during the whole process, the Hivelocity support team was very active, I scheduled to shut down the server after 7PM (so they can insert the new drive) and minutes before they wrote saying "we are ready to install the new HDD, you just have to shutdown the server". Never, but never, have I seen this type of concern with the customer, in the datacenters where I have been. I'm in this market this 2004, I had servers at The Planet, Layered Tech, Host Dime, LiquidWeb, and so many others that don't even exist anymore.

I've had servers in other companies, which were managed, and I didn't have support like that. My servers at Hivelocity have no management, but they go beyond what was expected, gave me all the support from beginning to end of the process, offered the data recovery service for free and even warned that they will save the old HDD for a week, for any emergency.

Thanks Hivelocity, I only have one thing to ask: keep it up, "this is the way".

Looking for Singapore/APAC dedicated servers

Hi,

I'm currently looking for dedicated servers in APAC.

Specs I wanted:
- CPU: Intel i7/Xeon E3-12xx (Ryzen is much better)
- RAM: 32-64GB RAM
- Storage: prefer SSD, HDD is okay.
- Network: 500mbps or above (5tb/10tb).

My budget is around US$ 70-150/mo.

Yes there are several providers in the region, but there are some issues.

1. OVH
Their APAC servers seems to be sold out (Rise/APAC lineup)

2. Leaseweb
Requires business/entrepreneurship registration, but servers are for personal use/under my name.

3. PhoenixNAP
Servers are in stock, budget fits well, but their upstream & network routing does not fit with my users (and they're not in SG exchanges? eqx sg, sgix, megaport?)

Any suggestions? Thanks!

OVH Killed my business

Hello,
i was having a server with hetzner for over 10 years on December i decided to move my server to OVH ( i heard it have better servers and network ). so i registered on their website ordered a server moved my 100+ website to the new server and all was fine. 2 days a go they asked me to send them documents that prove my identity and i did that with even photo of me holding my identity card etc. yesterday i received 3 emails saying that they wont accept me as a customer and they closed my account and suspended my server all that without giving me the option to take off my data my life worth of data 100 DOMAINS. i emailed them and they do not answer.
i did nothing wrong like hack or spam my documents where valid and real. i don't care if they don't want me any more as a customer but i need my files :'(

Looking for several dedicated servers in USA

We currently use Tailor Made Servers for one of our servers. We have 5 more with Rackspace.

We run virtual machines on these servers. Here are the specs we have:

Dual Xeon E5-2620v3
192GB DDR4 RAM
250GB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
~12 additional ip addresses
22000 Gigs Bandwidth (currently)

Initially, we are looking for one dedicated server. If the network and server are stable then we'll look at moving the other servers with it.

We are looking to combine them at one location. The reason why we are looking for new servers is that Tailor Made Servers doesn't give us enough bandwidth and we are being charged for additional bandwidth. We are paying $384.00 a month for what we currently have not including bandwidth overage charges.

Not sure if I'm missing anything. I'll respond accordingly if so.

Thanks!

Is Serveria.com a scam?

I came across the company serveria.com from seeing multiple adverts on this forum offering discounted dedciated servers, so I decided to order a server as they were in the EU and offered a fair server at a fair price.

Several days later I am still waiting for the server, the order has been paid in full and is just 'Pending' so I opened a ticket which has yet to be answered. I have even sent an email but heard nothing. With a company offering dedciated servers on this forum and have a long history I'm not sure what to do, is there an admin to report this too? Has anyone had issues with this company? Are there no checks made on companies offering dedicated servers on this forum? Its put me off now looking for any other servers via this forum.

LeaseWeb Deutschland takes my case to court in Amsterdam. Advise is needed.

Hi,

The problem started in 2019 when they redesigned their admin interface. We started having problems with not being able to see current invoices, we received multiple invoices for the same servers, and invoices which did not specify which equipment they was for.

Since after several calls and emails we still could not get an answer on which invoices were correct and which were incorrect, our servers were deactivated.

We then chose to end our collaboration with LeaseWeb. The last contact we had with LeaseWeb was 2019-08-19 when we sent the following email:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Leaseweb,

As a customer we are very unhappy with your lack of responses to our questions, emails, and customer service. We have had nothing but problems since you upgraded / migrated / modified the customer portal as of April 8th.

We will not pay any of the invoices below, (amount of ~€530) and we do not want to do any more business with you. It has taken too much of our time and effort to sort out your problems.

We recently paid €613.69 for a 12 month contract for the our DE server. You are free to cancel/disconnect this server and use the €613.69 to pay any due invoices, even those that does not specify which equipment they refer to, and even those who have arisen because you do not answer the questions we have.

We no longer have any confidence in you as a company, and we will not spend any more time solving problems for continued collaboration with your company.

Regards

The time goes any we are very happy with the other hosting provided that se moved to.

But, In December 2020, I received a letter from Leaseweb's debt collection company TKB INCASSO regarding an invoice that was created at the end of 2020 for the amount of € 676.19 and applies to a new advance-payment for a new period for the server we had in DE which was cancelled.

We dispute the invoice to both TKB and Leaseweb, but neither of these has responded.

Yesterday I received a second letter (via regular post) from TKB INCASSO. They will bring the amount to court in Amsterdam if I don't wire the amount before 2021-01-27.

Following url is a PDF of this letter: docdro.id/r1KYA4N (Add http if needed)

I'm in desperate need for help. From what I understand, the court in Amsterdam will rule in LeaseWeb's favor if I cannot be present in person to dispute the invoice.

What should/can I do?

Basic questions about Cluster DNS configuration

Hi friends,

I configured a Cluster DNS with:

-1 Master server (WHM/cPanel)
-3 slave servers (with 3 VPS, cPanel DNSOnly): dns1.mydomain.com -> VPS 1, dns2.mydomain.com -> VPS 2, dns3.mydomain.com -> VPS3

But I have some questions and not found replies in google. I never used Cluster DNS (I always create 3 DNS for each webhosting server). This is the last step for finalize the migration's odyssey and can forgot the old server with her problems. I'll be very grateful if you reply me this last questions:

1- I goes to Master server (WHM/cPanel) -> DNS Cluster -> "Enable DNS Clustering". I need do the same step in Salve servers or not is needed?.

2- I went to Master server (WHM/cPanel) -> DNS Cluster -> Add a new server to the cluster -> Configure -> And I added the 3 slave servers here. I keep the default options: Setup Reverse Trust Relationship = Enabled, Synchronize Zones Immediately = Enabled, Debug mode = disabled, DNS Role = Standalone.

I need do the same step between the slave servers?, for example: go to to slave server 1 -> DNS Cluster -> Add a new server to the cluster -> Configure -> Add the SLAVE SERVER 2 AND 3.

Also I need add the master server to the slave servers?.

My current configuration is: ONLY ADDED SLAVE SERVERS TO MASTER SERVER.

3- The "Standalone" mode is the correct mode? or "Synchronize changes" is better?.

4- I added this 3 new DNS to the webhosting server (WHM/cPanel -> Basic WebHost Manager -> Nameservers). But I see that anybody can add my DNS to her WHM/cPanel and send her Zone DNS to my Cluster DNS. How can I block other webhosting servers and only permit Zone DNS from my webhosting servers?.

Thanks in advance. Have a nice day.

Are servers with Ryzen CPUs stable enough?

Hello,

I know that servers with EPYC CPUs are very reliable, but are Ryzen servers reliable enough? I've seen there're many Ryzen servers on sale on Hetzner. If I rent a Ryzen server, do I need to reboot it every some days? Thanks a lot.
