Hello, a little introduction on what we are working on.
We are launching a B2B fully white labeled hosting reseller platform, making it possible for resellers to resell all hosting services for free without having to pay before they are able to resell on their custom website. How it works?
We working on over 20 templates for the launch next Month so you just registers and select a template, point a domain, modify costs and the reseller site is ready. No need for WHMCS, we are building a replica from scratch and it's even simpler and more user friendly for all end users to use in managing their domains and hosting (fully automated).
So this is like an advance Affiliate system, or you can call it hosting drop-shipping or any name you wish. Lots of work, funds and several other resources have been invested into this already and with all things being equal we are going to be able to fit into this very Competitive Market.
WHAT WE WANT, AND WHY THIS THREAD WAS CREATED.
We have invested a lot already for the development and we just want to partner with existing datacenter owners in several locations. We are looking for the best, affordable and reliable dedicated servers out there where we can sign an agreement with these Companies. As a startup we want to focus on managing the application, Marketing the products and providing support while we partner with data center owners.
Between the first 3 Months after launch we are expecting between 5,000 to 15,000 active Resellers since it's pretty easy to setup and modify the pre-built site, so at a rough estimate, we are expecting between 200 - 500 active dedicated servers to be ordered all things being equal with our Marketing budget and skills. So we really hope if we can get <<recommendations>> here.
Thanks
Not sure if this is the right category.. I want to know what makes a server speedy. My issue is, I tried about 6 servers the last 6 months.
Reseller Hostmantis (5$ a month)
VPS cloudcone 10 core 16 GB ram (50$) a month + cpanel (15$) + litespeed (30$) a month
VPS from a dutch guy, 8 core, 16GB ram, directadmin (70 a month)
Cloudcone VPS: 10 cores, 60GB ram, Cpanel + litespeed = like 70 a month).
Wpprovider (claims to have to fastest dutch hosting): 25,- a month.
Neostrada magento hosting (6 core, 8GB ram, cpanel = 20,- a month)
Believe it or not, but the freaking 5$ per month SHARED (!!!!) RESELLER (!!!!!) is the fastest of them all. And I really don't understand how that is possible. Is there anybody who can explain to me what makes a server fast? First I thought it was litespeed, so i bought a litespeed license for by VPS'ses. Then I thought it was the lack of RAM, so i went to Contabo with 60 freaking GB of ram WITH litespeed. And even that is slower if I 1:1 compare it with a 100% duplicated site on that Hostmantis reseller package...
Then a guy from Asia who tried to improve the pagespeed for a webshop copied the site to his dedicated server and the results were INSANELY fast. I asked him his config and he said:
2 X Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650
32 Cores
64 GB ram
2 X SSD Drive
He said he didn't had Litespeed, only Memcache installed.
Is there anybody who can tell me what makes a server fast? Is it the RAM? the CPU? The managing? The location? The LITEspeed/Memcached/Redis? And when does it make sense to get a Dedicated server instead of a VPS?
About me: As side job I build websites. Most of them very easy, 3 page wordpress sites with no visitors. I host about 60. They don't really care about speed, cause they are happy if there are There are some bigger clients (3 with a woocommerce webshop, 1 with a magento webshop) for which speed IS important.
What I would like is
THE FASTEST Server possible for my amount
At least 500GB SSD storage
Managed
Backups remotely (and something like JEtbackup)
Softacalous
Cpanel + WHM (100 accounts)
Budget: Under like 180$ for all (if that is anyway possible).
We have some older SolusVM nodes in the UK & NL that we are looking to upgrade to Proxmox. Our current hosts have been fairly reliable from an uptime/network perspective but not the greatest when it comes to support. Not that we need it very often but when a node is having issues, response times and capable support techs are important. That being said we are looking provider for recommendations with the following requirements.
1) Familiar with Proxmox however we will take care of installing/managing Proxmox via IPMI/ssh/web interface.
2) Able to provide custom hardware configs and possibly private VLAN's for backups or subnet overlays for multiple nodes to share IP space.
3) Responsive support with a clue and knowledgeable pre-sales staff to help spec the servers.
4) Tier 4 DC in London and Amsterdam (or can be 2 different providers).
We're also considering just reselling VPS services so we're also open recommendations on VPS resellers in those locations.
And Go.....
TIA
Hello!
I work at a nonprofit (church) with middle schoolers. Myself and some volunteers are temporarily running a small Minecraft server for the kids in our community during this time of social distancing, and they love it! It is amazing how video games have brought them together while they are stuck at home. Sometimes, we more than 45 kids on during a weekend event. Nothing is monetized (obviously), and the server is free to access for any kid in our community.
Unfortunately, our budget is not particularly high, and we are constantly running up against resource limitations (it seems we are either out of CPU or RAM all the time 😂. Do you guys know any hosting companies who might partner with us/offer a discount on their services? A dedicated host would be ideal, but I know those are much more expensive. Our current budget is ~$25 a month.
Thanks for any recommendations!
Respectfully,
Joshua
I'm looking for a reasonably priced managed dedicated hosting solution for my small browser-based game site. I need good processing speeds and lots of storage, at least 4 TB as we are image heavy, but don't need a ton of RAM. The biggest issue is that I need someone who can actually migrate my site AND set it up in good working order. The site has been open for 11 years and while the code is old and clunky it works fine, but I don't have the knowledge to transfer and set up a site myself and I don't have a developer at this time. Once set up, the site rarely requires any attention from a server perspective. It is hosted privately atm but the person is no longer interested in hosting so I need to find a new solution asap.
Ive been a customer of KnownHost for over 5 years. As my sites have been growing Ive used several of their different managed VPS and dedicated servers throughout the years. This has given me great insight both into their hardware performance and the customer support for the managed services they provide.
As most website owners know there are the occasional days which are nothing but headaches. Slow loading and watching as traffic drops. Its not fun at the moment but its part of the game. The most recent event was today and that gave me this reminder to take some time out of my day to write this review.
KnownHost is one of the best hosting providers out there which truly look after their customers. Today, as many times previously, they went far and beyond to resolve the issues with my dedicated server and helped boost the performance on my site significantly.
As someone who is not a developer it is truly a great feeling to know that a response from KnownHosts support staff is never but a few minutes away. This might sound too much like a 90s TV commercial, but I cant praise them enough! 5 years and they are still as good as back then (or maybe even better actually).
I highly recommend KnownHost to anyone who is looking for a trustworthy hosting provider with many years of experience in the space and who always puts their customers first.
Thank you KnownHost for being awesome! I will keep on recommending you.
Hello, my name is David, new member
I'm recently learning about using server hosting or providing services.
And I realized that server hosting should also be provided to meet customer needs.
Below are the Top 5 picked from our own survey to learn more.
Server's stable operation, security, price, quick response, and data center location seem to be important values.
What do you think is most important in a dedicated server??
Please feel free to share your opinions and reasons. I would appreciate it
Hi,
I currently work for a company which specializes mainly in full managed hosting for larger companies and full IT outsourcing of operations like ActiveDirectory, Exchange, etc. We maintain a large stack of dedicated and also cloud VPS infrastructure for our clients in local tier3 datacenters. Recently we began to upgrade most of our server equipment and so we are left with a lot of replaced older model enterprise and consumer grade servers.
Since we never had a way of working with selling VPS or dedicated servers via web page - never tried the webhosting business in mass scale ,there was an idea that popped into my head in the last weeks. Would there be a webhosting market to reuse the replaced hardware and offer them as dedicated servers via our webpage or is this kind of hardware simply to low end even with competitive pricing?
We are currently mainly talking about DELL R610 6core servers with different RAM sizes and disks which ofcourse can be customized, and consumer grade i5 and i7 servers with custom configurations.
With our experience we would of course provide all the necesary as 99,9% uptime, DDOS, ipKVM, Unmetered bandwidth, support, as we provide for our enterprise clients from our main business model.
Any suggestion/ constructive debate is welcomed, as I said..just an idea that popped up in my mind.
Maybe this is not the correct part of the forum, so sorry in advance
We've been with Hetzner for years and, while satisfied with the hardware and technical support and infrastructure, quite unhappy with support/sales/abuse departments where it always feels like they're doing one a favor in even answering and often make little effort to actually help.
So my question is if there's any hosting provider to match what they offer? We want to upgrade from our current servers and one type of servers we looked into are https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/ax41 which you can get in Germany* for 39 EUR/month (plus 39EUR setup fee) (prices without VAT as we're outside EU). This is a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Hexa-Core which has a passmark > 17,000 and comes with 64GB RAM and 2 x 512 GB NVMe SSD. When I found something similar with OVH (slightly better CPU, 3600X instead of 3600), it 105 USD per month when committing to 24 months which is more than double.
Another type we were looking at is the https://www.hetzner.com/dedicated-rootserver/ax51
Anyway, any matching offers elsewhere? We can probably take some bandwidth limitation and cool with either EU or US locations.
*They have a center in Finland but when I did a bit of research it seemed it offers much worse network connectivity so while 5 EUR cheaper per server, doesn't seem to be worth the risk.

I am currently using Direct Admin I am willing to change to Cpanel/Plesk o whatever control panel <<they>> use as long as <<they>> can move over my sites mostly WordPress without them having any problems to integrate into <<their>> hosting panel of choice
I have been trying to find server admins for a Cpanel dedicated machine.
I find my experience has been the following in the last few years.
1) CHEAP -- great if nothing is needed. Low skills, low service. Outsourced to 3rd world countries. Only really available to do work during flip-flop hours (I am in USA). Never worth it in the end.
2) Affordable with either
a) GREAT service and low skills (still outsourcing to cheap freelancers?)
or
b) Poor service and low skills
3) Individual, who's pricing changes, availability changes, or business communications are not fully professional.
Is there anyone out there that has GREAT SERVICE and DECENT Pricing? or do I just need to bite it and pay $200 a month (twice the cost of the server lease) for decent administrative services?
My most recent and present experience is with a provider here from WHT. They are in the EU. Their reps log in from Germany and Greece. Usually in the US daytime, work is not done.
They told me they were UNABLE to repair the Kernel. Somehow, a previous admin had installed kernalcare and they claim it was removed and now causing errors in csf/lfd. (they didn't know how to fix it)
My only solution was to reinstall os or buy a New server from them.
Let me add, they were very pushy on how "old" my machine was and that was the reason support was slow.
they had problems backing up the system and couldn't guarantee it would work right again unless I bought anew server from them.
I didn't, they are in the EU and I am in the US, so not worth the GDPR compliance hassles.
So Did the reinstall with my DC.
Guess what, same problems...and more. For days. Their "pro-active" admin didn't catch these errors. I had to report them. eventually many of them got them fixed.
Except now, most sites are NOT working properly.
Basic things like .htaccess file and default.htm not recognized and working.
They told me because there are so many possibilities of php/configurations, we need to go through every site and test every function, then let them know, site by site, issue by issue.
Except they all worked fine before...
I have lost a LOT OF TIME and MONEY with this.
So, now, once again, looking for a company that can work with CPANEL and not blame the last admin or the server on their inability to manage it.
Anyone else have this issue?
how did you resolve it, just keep trying and trying, month after month with company after company?
Normally, I would just go with a dedicated machine that came with management. I didn't have these problems when I did. But the servers cost 3 times as much.
I guess I am asking, am I missing something or Is this just part of saving money on a dedi? No way around it except to just pay for the topline?
