I wonder, can good 2TB HDD 7200RPM (for example WD Gold or Black) can handle 1 KVM virtual machine (1CPU 3,54GHz, 8GB RAM) with all email server functionality (Postfix, Dovecot, Spamassassin, webmail Roundcube, etc.).
I total this KVM server would handle 400 mailbox'es. Let's assume that each user will use POP3 on computer and IMAP on Phone. About 10% users will use webmail. Also each user will SEND 50 and GET 50 emails per day.
Each year a user will grow mailbox by 1GB, so in total after 3 year the space will be occupied 3year x 1GB x 400users = 1,2TB
So my question will such combination be enough in terms of performance? What do you think about random read/write operation, won't it be slow?
Users quantity is not so much, but I want to plan infrastructure very carefull that I won't need to redone everything when we start the all things live.
This HDD will be on CEPH cluster storage, so we don't talk hear about the local RAID.
I can't afford SSD though.
Good people, could I have your advice?
Hello, from some days any user is doing mass mailing from our server and now our IP is blocked in SpamHaus etc.
these things are happening with me from last 4 months, i request to delist and then after 10 days it''s again got listed !
i read all forums and documentations and spent 1 month but nothing changed ! now i am agree that documentations won't help me in this case.
i want to ask that How can i disable PHPMailer in my cPanel/WHM Server?
Like my clients won't be able to send email using PHP mail function , they requires to use SMTP. i turned on tweak setting of that nobody but nothing happened. tell me any proper solution please. if any client send email from PHP Mail functon then his email will directly rejected !
Hello folks - hope you're well...
What kind of server arrangement would you recommend for someone who wants to start and gradually scale a SaaS (software as a service)?
For example, let's say they have an online app.
People login to the app, use it, and then logout.
More users will be added to the app over time.
The performance (and speed) of the app shouldn't be affected for existing users, as more people start using the app.
Let's assume the app starts with a handful of users.
But, over time, the app becomes *really* successful - which requires many concurrent MySQL database calls, etc.
We wouldn't want to start overpaying for hosting when starting, but wouldn't like to later have to move to a different server either.
Maybe Amazon EC2 or AWS - or something similar would fit the bill?
Anything else one should keep in mind?
Thanks!
Hello, I am looking for a good server to run bigbluebutton on.
There will be max 400 users active at the same time.
I was thinking of these dedicated servers:
Dedi-1:
- CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690 (or E5-2690v2)
- 64GB 10600R ECC Registered 4x 16GB
- Raid controller Dell PERC H310
- 1Gbit/s up and down
- 2x 1TB SSD
Dedi-2:
- CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2690v4
- 64GB DDR4
- Raid controller Dell PERC H310
- 1Gbit/s up and down
- 2x 1TB SSD
Can the Dedi-1 server with the E5-2690 handle this?
If you have a other suggestion please let me know. But the CPU needs to be from the Xeon E5 Family.
This isn't serious. I bought a new server with a new IP, we not sent never emails yet.
When my client try to send email to Gmail, Yahoo and other companies receive him without problems. But Hotmail/Outlook block the IP and return this message:
Code:
"host hotmail-com.olc.protection.outlook.com [x.x.x.x]
SMTP error from remote mail server after pipelined MAIL FROM:email@email.com SIZE=1797:
550 5.7.1 Unfortunately, messages from [x.x.x.x] weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list (S3140). You can also refer your provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors. [.eop-EUR01.prod.protection.outlook.com]"
WTF!!!, this is frustrating. How can happens this if we never used this server and have a new IP. I did test with many blacklist tools and the IP is clean.
Hotmail/Outlook need disapear, they are blocking IPs for nothing.
Hi All,
I need a server (to start with) where I can do solution demos and build acceptance platform to perform upgrades etc.
For example, say a hosting company wants to design a solution where they want to move into ceph and openstack . and want a demo of how it looks like and how it works .. those are built virtually .. so this server will host a lot of virtual machines .. like 3x controllers, 3x ceph mons, 4x ceph osd, 4x hypervisors , 1x storage, 1x router , 3x object storage etc .. . you get the idea..
I already have a few servers from a provider, but the prices are getting higher, so I am just checking out what I can get. (maybe I am paying more)
Requirements:
at least 24 threads .. the more the better .. but not more than 40 threads ( can be amd or intel )
1x ssd disk for the OS (can be 480gb min) and 2x 1 TB nvme .. ( i do not need raid , this has no customer data)
128 gb of ram
Unmanaged
kvm/idrac access preferred . but not a necessity. OS to be installed is ubuntu-focal minimum with only ssh enabled via ssh-key
Bandwidth -- 99% incoming -- imagine 20-30 virtual-machines doing apt-get every week or doing git clone from github every few-days as a part of their build .. .. the only ports open = ssh and https ( say 1-2 hours per month, when a public demo is required) ...
IPs - one for the main server, 3-4 additional
Location: Europe preferred, but US is also OK.
Please do not ask me for a budget. But feel free to post your recommendations.
Thanks.
So I've run into a little issue with a build I'm working on and I have a few questions. I'm going to be working with a proxmox cluster running NFS storage for nexcloud instances because its a personal home server ill be using the mobo Tuf-Gaming B550-Plus with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
I'm going to install proxmox on a NVMe SSD drive and as well add 6x4TB SAS drives for the storage.
Now my question is the mobo has an onboard raid card but after reading a few guides I see a lot of them saying don't use raid arrays use the NFS settings in proxmox to combine the storage any other options available for storage with proxmox?
Would this be possible without a raid card? If not which raid card do I need? Would onboard raid support 4TB SAS drives? I've been scouring google for the last couple days but not coming up with anything significant that would help me finish off the build.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm currently designing a new server architecture in colab with a server tech, we'll need 4 dedicated servers and he has recommended to setup server virtualization via Virtuozzo, his reasoning is that it will make it easy to migrate to better hardware when needed. This seems like a good idea but some devs are telling my that it will degrade the performance of the boxes is this true? His plan is to install OS on 2 x SATA(Raid 1) drives and then place the virtualization on 2 x SSD's (Raid 1)
I would like a 2nd opinion on this,
Does the virtualization degrade performance, IF it does then by how much?
Is it really this convenient to use such a virtualization setup in reference to migration?
Any other thing to consider?
Thanks!
I am in need of a dedicated server for my business which will be running a white-label version of Mailwizz.
The amount of clients is approx 25 and growing daily.
These clients run various websites, blogs, membership clubs, create courses etc etc..
They have email lists that range anywhere between 5k to 500k subscribers.
The server I need WILL NOT be in charge of sending email to these lists. It's main purpose is housing the self-hosted email marketing application Mailwizz.
I am looking for a quality host that can handle the following requirements to run Mailwizz:
- Linux operating system
- Apache/Nginx webserver
- PHP >= 5.2
- MySQL/MariaDB, with InnoDB storage engine
- Cron Jobs access (linux crons not web crons please)
My budget is around $150-200/mo for a single dedicated CPU. I can allocate more of a budget if you think dual cpu is necessary.
I have these in mind:
MOJOHOST FAST E3-2: Xeon 4 Cores 8 Threads, 2 Storage Bays - $159
E3 Intel Xeon CPU
4/8/8M Cores/Threads/Cache
3.2/3.9 Gigahertz (min/max)
16 GB DDR3 1600 ECC RAM
(2) 1 TB Enterprise HDD Storage
(2) Total Drive Bays
1,000 Megabit WAN Uplink
1,000 Megabit LAN Uplink
25,000 GB Included Transfer
.01 Cost per GB Over
MOJOHOST FAST E3-6: Xeon 4 Cores 8 Threads, 6 Storage Bays - $199
E3 Intel Xeon CPU
4/8/8M Cores/Threads/Cache
3.2/3.9 Gigahertz (min/max)
16 GB DDR3 1600 ECC RAM
(4) 1 TB Enterprise HDD Storage
RAID CARD Optional
(6) Total Drive Bays
1,000 Megabit WAN Uplink
1,000 Megabit LAN Uplink
25,000 GB Included Transfer
.01 Cost per GB Over
ProlimeHost
Intel 2276G
6 cores, 12 threads
32 GB
480G SSD or 2TB HDD
40 TB
$99/mo
I am even considering a Ryzen setup from either ProlimeHost or Hivelocity which has servers using EPYC. Although I am not sure if it's wise to go with consumer-grade hardware for this setup?
This is the one from ProlimeHost:
AMD Ryzen 3700x
8 cores 16 threads
64 GB
480G SSD or 2TB HDD
40 TB
$119/m
DatabaseByDesignLLC also has a special going on for a dual cpu server with 96gb ram although they are using an older X5560 cpu.
Not sure if that's too outdated though...
