Looking for New Dedicated Host - WebNX Refugee

Hey Everyone,

I am in urgent need of a new Dedicated Server. I have a server with WebNX and they have been down for 16+ hours with no ETA's given.

Here is what I have with WebNX: Intel Xeon W-1290P, 128GB DDR4 ECC, 1.6TB NVMe, 1Gbps Port, 100TB, /29 (iGPU). (Utah)

I would like the server in the US preferably LA, UTAH, Seattle, Texas.

I am looking for something similar around.

Any hosts that have anything comparable would be great or any suggestion from the community would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Again.

West Coast USA WebNX Alternatives?

Good Afternoon and Happy Friday to Everyone :-)

I am seeking the advice/opinions of the WHT Community here. We were involved in the April 4th Data Center Fire up in Ogden, Utah. My server is back online, but now one of the Hard Drives is failing and I have to fight with the server daily to keep it online.

I am hoping that through your own personal experiences you can share with me your thoughts and suggestions of where one might look for a similar server at a cost effective price. Following is our current configuration:

Dual Intel Xeon E5-2680v2, 128GB DDR3 ECC, 2 x 10TB SAS HDD, HW RAID-1, 1Gbps Port, 100TB Outbound, /27. There is an onboard IPMI and they include our Windows Server 2019 Standard License.

I have put a few feelers out and everyone is around the $500/Month mark. We currently pay $244 and there is no way that I can come anywhere close to the $500 ask. Does anyone have any thoughts where I may find a similar server and be online quickly?

Your help is most definitely appreciated!

WebNX Utah Slow Network?

Anybody else have servers at WebNX that noticed really slow network throughput from their Utah DC to East Coast NA? So far this has been happening with us for a few days now and support has always said there was no issue with their network, there was just a DDoS and they rerouted traffic. But seems for me its not.

I tested from multiple VPS I have from locations like NY (colocrossing), Canada (OVH), FL (DediPath), SG (Leaseweb), and a multitude of others, all with varying result but bottom line was its unstable. For example, trying to download their network test file (https://mirrors-ogd.webnx.com/test/1gb.bin), it would all yield something really low from 100KB/s to 2MB/s. Occasionally I would hit 20MB/s at my SG server, but only for some time. Tested it with my LA server (colocrossing), this one is good, about 30MB/s.

Tried to do a lot of iPerf3 tests as well, with just similar result with conclusion that its extremely slow.

Just want to know if I am the only one experiencing it.

Looking for a dedicated server with intel iGPU

I am looking for a dedicated server for plex which can do occasional HW transcoding.
I am looking for an unmanaged server
Processor: Intel Skylake or newer with iGPU
Disk: 512 - 1TB NVMe
RAM: 16GB+
Network: 1Gbps port with over 10TB - unlimited(preferred)
Location: US(preferred) or good peering to US
Currently looking at Hetzner EX42-NVME, so anything in that price range works for me.

Video Encoding/Trans coding Conversion Dedicated Server Required

I am looking to buy a dedicated server for my video project, I have multiple video upload at the same time each video I upload is about 2-3 GB in size and about 2-3 hours in length (TV Series/Movies). Currently I am using Intel Xeon E5-1650V3 dedicated server with 128GB of RAM with dedicated port link speed 1GBPS but when I convert mp4/avi videos into HLS using FFMPEG it takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour on each video to convert but I need some faster solution that can do within less then 15 minutes. Some hosting companies recommends to add GPU in it.Please recommend me a dedicated server specification that can handle version conversion very fast. features I will be using CentOS7, FFMPEGLooking forward for recommendations

Which server should I choose? Intel or AMD?

Hi,
I need a dedicated server for hosting a single php-mysql site with heavy traffic.
My DC has these two options among others. Which should I choose?

SERVER1:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 Hexa-Core "Matisse" (Zen2)
RAM: 64 GB DDR4
HDs: 2 x 512 GB NVMe SSD

SERVER2:
CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1275V6
RAM: 64 GB DDR4 ECC
HDs: 2x 480 GB DC SSD

Cost is almost the same for both servers.

IOFLOOD - 3 Month Review

IOFLOOD 3 Month Review

I signed up with IOFLOOD for a Dual E5-2680v2 dedicated server about 3 months ago and wanted to give an update.

When signing up there is a 24-72 hour set up time. They were able to set me up earlier as I was a Webnx refugee. (If set up time is important to you, just take a note)

Let's talk speed, the speed test's download is 600 Mbps and upload 400 Mbps

Now, server response time for webpages is 100 MS or less from the tests done.

Sometimes email response time is a little slower than the liquid webs of the world. (10 minute response time or less). But we have had little reason to contact support.

Most important of all is uptime. We have had 100% uptime since signing up. We did have downtime recently for a ram upgrade. (Which is to be expected).

So, I would give them an A+
I have upgraded some features of my server. But current specs and price are below. I added additional RAM from the base set up and some additional IP's.. But couldn't be happier with the service and the price is quite reasonable.

Server specs and price
Dual E5-2680v2, 100TB / mo bandwidth on 1gbps, 256GB RAM, 2x 1.6TB NVMe SSD, unmanaged, 2x /29 IPs, $191.50.

7 Year Review WebNX

Background
We run a game server hosting company which has been running since 2012. We currently rent roughly 200 dedicated servers from 6 different providers. We currently rent roughly 60 of these dedicated servers from WebNX. We've been with them for just over 7 years and I can safely say that they've been the best datacentre we've used. I know how important reviews are to a company; I feel that we've used WebNX long enough to write an honest review.

Support
We've had our fair share of rubbish support from datacentres in the past. WebNX definitely provides the best support out of all the datacentres we've used. During the past 7 years, I'd say the average response time for a ticket at WebNX was about 10 minutes. We've found the biggest issue with large datacentres is that their support teams are disjointed. This leads to issues which "don't fit the norm" taking a long time to resolve. WebNX is large enough to provide 24/7 365 day support yet small enough to provide genuinely good "straight to the point" support.

Reliability / Uptime
All the datacentres we've used have had some sort of major outage at some point in time. During the 7 years, there have been a couple of network outages at WebNX but the issues have always been resolved quickly along with good communication. Considering the number of servers we have with them, I'd say the uptime is incredibly high.

Hardware
During the past 7 years we've switched our server hardware roughly 4 or 5 times. It's as simple as contacting them letting them know what hardware you like, they provide a reasonably priced quote and in a couple of days, the server is delivered. I'd say on average, broken hardware is resolved in roughly an hour from us opening the ticket.

DDoS Protection
I'd say this is the downside of WebNX. They'll automatically nullroute the IP address if a DDoS attack is detected. The amount of time the IP address is nullrouted depends on how much traffic the attack is sending. It's not really a huge issue for us as we can quickly work out which one of our clients was targeted and then get migrate them over to a DDoS protected IP address. I'm hoping at some stage they'll provide onsite DDoS protection.

Price
They're very reasonably priced considering the support and customisation which they offer.

Network
WebNX's network is top notch. Nothing to complain about at all.

Keep up the great work WebNX! Would be great if you could get another datacentre setup in East Coast USA.
