Hi all,
I'm new here and this my first post
So I'd like to get my own dedicated server and set it up at home to be used for games only but I have no idea what kind of specs that is needed when it comes to servers and the distribution of system resources such as CPU, RAM etc. Storage is self explained obviously.
I'm looking to host like a Minecraft server, 7 days to die server, Rust server etc but in general, if possible to say, how many game servers can you run on a single machine?
What is a good server Intel Xeon CPU these days that is not overkilling my needs to run a few game servers on the machine? Is 64 GB of RAM enough to start with?
What is best for my needs when it comes to the server type like a tower or a rack?
I'm just trying to get an estimated cost to set this all up and i'm a bit overwhelmed what is enough and not so my apologies if I don't provide much information so if you need any more details in order to assist, let me know and I'd be happy to be more specific in the topic .
Internet speed is not an issue as I have 1 Gbit up and down.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
I am starting my own business selling game servers. I am going to purchase a dedicated server monthly, install tcadmin to automatically allocate resources to new customers buying their own servers for various different video game titles. How will I know when my first dedicated server will reach its limit? In other words how will I know what prices/plans to set to flip a profit on my first dedicated server?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
What is the actual meaning of Dedicated servers ? ok the answer is a dedicated server is a type of web hosting in which a client has the exclusive use of an entire server. So that mean VPS also a dedicated server. We used that word a decade ago for Bare Metal Servers. I think we should correct the WHT category as Bare Metal Servers. This is just a suggestion. What do you think about that ?
an guy providing me hetzner dedicated server at 6800INR ( 76.91 EURO ) ( 93.22 USD )
here is configuration :-
-Intel Xeon E3-1275v5 (3.8 ghz,boostable upto 4.5 ghz) (8 threads)
-ipv4 1 ip
-ipv6 (/64 subnet)
-Ram: 64 GB(ECC DDR4)
-Storage: 2x 512 GB high speed NVME SSD(m.2) (700mbps - 1.5gbps) (software raid included)
Port speed: dedicated 1GBps(unmetered)
- NIC 1 Gbit - Intel I210 (network controller)
Location :- Germany
i want the same server from hetzner directly. i searched in server auction but NIC is I219 did not find I210
anyone could tell is I219 is better than I210 or not? i am newbie
and the configuration he sent same config is available in hetzner or not?
and that guy said he have rack from hetzner, what about it??
i am asking in forum because i can get more knowledge and explaination here
please share your replies.
We currently use Tailor Made Servers for one of our servers. We have 5 more with Rackspace.
We run virtual machines on these servers. Here are the specs we have:
Dual Xeon E5-2620v3
192GB DDR4 RAM
250GB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
~12 additional ip addresses
22000 Gigs Bandwidth (currently)
Initially, we are looking for one dedicated server. If the network and server are stable then we'll look at moving the other servers with it.
We are looking to combine them at one location. The reason why we are looking for new servers is that Tailor Made Servers doesn't give us enough bandwidth and we are being charged for additional bandwidth. We are paying $384.00 a month for what we currently have not including bandwidth overage charges.
Not sure if I'm missing anything. I'll respond accordingly if so.
Thanks!
Hey everyone, I need help choosing a dedicated server from psychz.net
My needs:
I want to have 4-8 VM's running simultaneously (the amount depends on how strong each VM is)-
If 4 VM's, each VM will have 4 game clients running. If 8 VM's, each will have 2 game clients running.
For reference, in my computer I have i5-6600 and by running 3 game clients, each one takes around 30% CPU and 800 MB Ram
(also, I am able to run 2 game clients on a Azure VM (4 cores, 8 GB Ram) "Standard F4s_v2")
Budget: $200-$300 a month.
What do you recommend in terms of specs, and how should I split them for each VMs.
What about operating system? Perhaps VMWare ESXI or Windows Datacenter?
ANY HELP APPRICIATED!
Hey all,
I'm looking for suggestions for a new dedicated servers based East Coast USA, all my servers are European based so I don't know any good US based server companies. I'm in need of a server with
Atleast a 6c/12t CPU /Intel Xeon etc
Between 64GB & 128GB RAM
1 Gbps unmetered bandwidth
4TB Storeage (either 1x4TG or 2x2TB merged)
Ubuntu 18.04 OS (custom software for clients demands 18.04)
So suggestions welcome, but please no OVH or Hetzner suggestions as I don't use them, had bad experiences with both.
Cheers
Hello! Me and my friends were looking for a vps/server where we could run our android games (yeah 24/7) farming something like that.
Actually, I already found something like this (details at the bottom) from a certain dedicated vps seller but we're thinking if we could get something in ASIA or with good ping with ASIA as we're playing a SEA server game and it could be an issue. Though the price is really good (around $51 for the details below) already for us as we think we could at least play 4-5 instances in there (1 whole party LOL)
Intel Core i7 4770
3.4 Ghz 4 cores 32 GB
1 480 GB (SSD SATA)
1Gbps Unlimited
Germany
Thank you in advance!
Hi i'm looking for a dedicated server recommendation.
Requirements:
Accept BTC/ETH as payment method.
Max price 75 euro/month
Operating system: Windows 10
I'm looking for a non-server CPU - maybe an intel i5 or i7 or i9
Or a server CPU is fine (Xeon)... as long as there's also a decent GPU in in the system.
Thanks!
I heard of Tempest hosting from several Discord servers, and give it a try.
Bought an M610 dedicated server in Amsterdam, running X5677, 32GB RAM, 900GB storage, 10gbps dedicated unmetered port. yes, you're not reading it wrong.
Onboarding process, it was smooth sailing. Registered, paid, and their IPMI system will automatically install the OS I chose. They also provide "Firewall Manager", where we can add filters on what ports/ips/protocols should be allowed/rejected to our server IP. They also provide DDoS filters, such as OpenVPN/VSE/TCP/TS3.
Compared to other providers, specs/hardware wise, there are far better options (ryzen/epyc/E5), but considering the price, no other providers can offer what they offer. 10gbit unmetered dedicated port for only US$150/mo!?
They do offer Ryzen servers, but I think it's a pre-order system and takes 2-6 weeks.
Network wise, the downside is that they're not on any exchanges/IXs (AMS-IX, DE-CIX, NL-IX, LINX, etc). They only use tier-1 upstreams (GTT & NTT), so sometimes routing outside of Europe (specifically Asia Pacific) is a bit weird.
In terms of support, they offer two options, either via WHMCS or their Discord server. All of the people who I talk to are friendly and knowledgeable.
Overall, for $150/mo, 10gbps unmetered port, it's fantastic. I hope that more & better specs will be available in the near future.
I'm going to tell you how HostSlim.eu deceives me !

I saw their AD on WHT and I am looking for some good servers. Since I have a large number of servers at LeaseWeb that need to provide data transfer, I want to move to their data center.
I ordered 15 servers from them from 17th May at a cost of 1600 Euros.
They promised to deliver the server to me on May 20th, so that I have 10 days to transfer the server of LeaseWeb.
But now 22 days have passed and I have not received any available servers and they have sent me 2 damaged servers (no IPMI, no system installed)!
Importantly, they didn't with my consent to withhold money directly from my credit card. They are now closing the ticket and will not reply to any questions from me.
I have saved all the information records and if necessary, I will post them here.
