LimeStone Networks - anyone else facing bandwidth usage billing issues

I have been a customer of Limestone networks for over a decade and have recommended them to many friends and customers. Recently I. encountered a strange issue.
When I logged on to my dashboard to update my credit card info, I found several "bandwidth overage" invoices in my account for last 2 years. Those are coming from the server that I don't even use and need to some day just move the data for my record and close it out. Those invoices were not charged on my card so I did not know about them. Anyone else has faced any unpaid invoice issue / bandwidth calculation issues with LSTN?

Looking for several dedicated servers in USA

We currently use Tailor Made Servers for one of our servers. We have 5 more with Rackspace.

We run virtual machines on these servers. Here are the specs we have:

Dual Xeon E5-2620v3
192GB DDR4 RAM
250GB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
1TB SSD
~12 additional ip addresses
22000 Gigs Bandwidth (currently)

Initially, we are looking for one dedicated server. If the network and server are stable then we'll look at moving the other servers with it.

We are looking to combine them at one location. The reason why we are looking for new servers is that Tailor Made Servers doesn't give us enough bandwidth and we are being charged for additional bandwidth. We are paying $384.00 a month for what we currently have not including bandwidth overage charges.

Not sure if I'm missing anything. I'll respond accordingly if so.

Thanks!

ReliableSite NYC Metro bandwidth issues?

Anybody else have a server hosted in the ReliableSite NYC Metro datacenter and experiencing upstream bandwidth issues (upstream from your server, meaning clients downloading from your server)? In the past 2-3 days I've only been able to get ~3MB/s upstream (downstream is unaffected, I can still saturate the Gbps connection).

So then I tried ReliableSite's own speedtest links for each of their own data centers, posted he https://www.reliablesite.net/network/

http://nycmetro-speedtest.reliablesi...000mb.test.zip
http://miami-speedtest.reliablesite.net/1000mb.test.zip
http://los-angeles-speedtest.reliabl...000mb.test.zip

And I get the same bandwidth differences:

NYC Metro: ~3.5 MB/s
Miami: ~116 MB/s
Los Angeles: ~40 MB/s

These speeds are while running wget from the URLs above to a VM in Azure US East 2.

Can anyone else confirm that they see slow speeds with NYC Metro?

LeaseWeb Deutschland takes my case to court in Amsterdam. Advise is needed.

Hi,

The problem started in 2019 when they redesigned their admin interface. We started having problems with not being able to see current invoices, we received multiple invoices for the same servers, and invoices which did not specify which equipment they was for.

Since after several calls and emails we still could not get an answer on which invoices were correct and which were incorrect, our servers were deactivated.

We then chose to end our collaboration with LeaseWeb. The last contact we had with LeaseWeb was 2019-08-19 when we sent the following email:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Leaseweb,

As a customer we are very unhappy with your lack of responses to our questions, emails, and customer service. We have had nothing but problems since you upgraded / migrated / modified the customer portal as of April 8th.

We will not pay any of the invoices below, (amount of ~€530) and we do not want to do any more business with you. It has taken too much of our time and effort to sort out your problems.

We recently paid €613.69 for a 12 month contract for the our DE server. You are free to cancel/disconnect this server and use the €613.69 to pay any due invoices, even those that does not specify which equipment they refer to, and even those who have arisen because you do not answer the questions we have.

We no longer have any confidence in you as a company, and we will not spend any more time solving problems for continued collaboration with your company.

Regards

The time goes any we are very happy with the other hosting provided that se moved to.

But, In December 2020, I received a letter from Leaseweb's debt collection company TKB INCASSO regarding an invoice that was created at the end of 2020 for the amount of € 676.19 and applies to a new advance-payment for a new period for the server we had in DE which was cancelled.

We dispute the invoice to both TKB and Leaseweb, but neither of these has responded.

Yesterday I received a second letter (via regular post) from TKB INCASSO. They will bring the amount to court in Amsterdam if I don't wire the amount before 2021-01-27.

Following url is a PDF of this letter: docdro.id/r1KYA4N (Add http if needed)

I'm in desperate need for help. From what I understand, the court in Amsterdam will rule in LeaseWeb's favor if I cannot be present in person to dispute the invoice.

What should/can I do?

OVH validation account time

Hello guys, I don't know if it's a problem or it's normal in ovh, I created an account and paid for a server in OVH so far so good, they sent me an email requesting documents to validate the account (ID and invoices in my name) I sent them to all, but I still did not get a response from them, 3 days have passed and I am still waiting, send the documents on Thursday afternoon...

I am afraid because they have already taken the money from my credit card, in my bank figure OVH pending/retention

It's normal and need to wait more longer or I should worried?

Reliablesite review

I used Reliablesite once a few years ago for a long since dead project, this review focuses on my most recent experience, starting in June this year (a 6 month review). We had a few servers with Reliablesite, that have since been moved to another provider who were able to offer better hardware at this price point.

Sales: 8/10
I've only used their sales livechat, which was quick and concise with their replies to most of my questions, more in depth questions I was directed to email sales (although I never followed this up).

Setup: 3/10
I'll preface this by saying that this was during a large sale event, so I imagine they were under heavier than normal demand.

The first problem was "specials" ordered with customisation (eg ports or bandwidth) are provisioned without their upgrades. This means you have to open a ticket and request the installation of a NIC, or chase up bandwidth upgrades so they are properly applied to the account. We encountered problems spanning multiple servers with NICs not working, IPMI not working, OS installs via the panel not working, these issues were mostly resolved quickly, although a couple took longer than I'd have liked.

I would have preferred if the setup of a customised server was delayed and everything delivered working as ordered, but I understand some customers may want everything ASAP even if it's partial (and in some cases, unusable).

The second issue we encountered was with our second order, where we had accidentally used the same hostname as the first during the ordering process. This resulted in confusion on RS' side during the setup process, as it seems they use hostnames to track servers within accounts rather than a numerical ID system, or possibly just human error on their side as well as ours.

The third issue was when we ordered a couple of "Intel special (5000+ score)" servers. One of the servers that was delivered had an 11 year old i7 860 with a score of 2891. Another was an 8 year old i5 3550 scoring 4805.

We explained that the i5 was fine and we didn't care too much about the score, the main issue is the i7 was so old that it lacked AES-NI, which was needed for our use case. One of the techs said they'd look into installing AES-NI (which obviously isn't possible). We requested an exchange with a server that had a CPU with AES-NI, or met the advertised 5000 score.

We were told that the Passmark algorithm was updated a few months ago meaning the i7 860 no longer met the advertised score, a swap wasn't possible so they'd refund the server and update the site. I'm not sure why they couldn't do a swap, as we just turned around and ordered a special with identical RAM/SSD but with a newer Xeon which was the same price. All in all, a lot of hassle, a needless refund and reorder, and they still haven't corrected their site with the correct score.

Support: ??/10
After the turbulent setup experience, we didn't need to contact support once. Obviously this is a very good sign, but as the only actual interaction we had with support was during the above setup period, I don't feel comfortable giving a rating here.

Network: 10/10
No complaints at all, speeds to Europe and across US have been very good. I'd seen no signs of packet loss, no drops, excellent.

Control Panel: 7/10
There's 3 separate control panels, 1 for billing, 1 for tickets, and 1 for managing servers. There is little integration between them visible from the client's side, making it a bit awkward to use. For example, you can't select a service the issue is about on the ticket control panel. The server management panel looks a bit dated but everything is there and functional that I could see, the only missing thing was the ability to edit the server names (which could lead to the confusion seen in the Setup section of the review).

One annoying thing is that RS blocks a lot of ASNs from accessing their site, I assume to block orders from proxies, however these blocks also cover their customer panels, meaning if you're on a VPN (be it a private or public) then you might not be able to manage your services. I understand wanting to block orders from anonymising services, however blocking entire ASNs from even accessing the management panels is a bit of an over reach in my opinion.

Pricing/Value: 7/10
Their specials are good value, although you do have to take into account the aging hardware on their cheaper specials. Their configurable hardware options are a bit pricey and I think could do with revisiting, eg $60/m for a 1TB SSD is a bit much for todays pricing. I'm sure they could work out a better deal if I were to contact their sales though. Their network upgrades are very good value, with cheap 10Gbps ports and bandwidth upgrades, especially during sales events.

Overall, despite the poor setup experience at the start, I'd say our experience was very good overall. I'd certainly use Reliablesite again for other projects in the future, and would recommend them if your use case matches their offerings.

Appalling Customer Service by Hetzner

I have had an absolutely terrible experience with this company. I used their services for a short period of time, then decided to close my account. I was not informed of any outstanding balances before doing so. The next day I was sent an invoice for 7.54.

The invoice states that the payment is due by PayPal. I only signed up for this company because they advertise as accepting payment by PayPal. When I click the link to pay the invoice however, it does not let me do so as my account is closed.

The support team has been rude and absolutely unhelpful. They have informed me that I am unable to pay by PayPal because I closed my account. I have asked them to reinstate my account so that I can pay my invoice. They refuse to do this because my account has an outstanding balance.

One of their e-mails to me stated the following:
As the account is disabled already, you have to make a bank transfer. There is no other option, and it's not our problem, you deleted your account, so disbaled it, before paying the invoice.

Its not their problem? Are you serious? When I closed my account it didnt show me an outstanding invoice. It didnt give me any option to pay. I closed my account on March 31st at 12:02 PM. I was sent an invoice on April 1st at 4:14 AM. It seems to me like the problem is the way they run their system.

They insist that I send an international wire transfer for 7.54 to them. I have repeatedly refused to send an international wire transfer where the fee to do so will cost me three or four times what I owe. After all, they clearly advertise that they accept PayPal.

I have on multiple occasions offered to pay by credit card. I have also asked them for an e-mail address that I can simply send a PayPal payment to. They have refused both of these and insist that I send them a wire transfer. They are threatening to send me to a collections agency if I do not do so. This behavior borders on extortion. I am actually trying to pay my invoice, but they are NOT giving me a reasonable way to do so.

Again when I asked to pay for PayPal, one of their replies states the following:
you don't have the option to do that as YOU deleted the account.

My last four e-mails to them asking them for a PayPal address to send payment to have been completely ignored. I suspect they will soon send me to a collections agency (as they have directly told me they will do this) for not paying my invoice, which I have repeatedly attempted to pay.

I have NEVER dealt with a company with such rude and appalling customer service. I recommend avoiding this terrible company at ALL costs.

BYOIP / BGP sessions, server in LA region?

Hi, I'm looking to bring my rented /32 v6 IP space onto a datacenter (routed, announced by their network since I don't have an ASN) located in Los Angeles. I was using Vultr for over a year, but they kicked me off for excessive bandwidth usage... So I need a provider with unmetered bandwidth, either 4 (4 core) servers with 1 GBPS unmetered ports, or a single server with 16 cores or higher and a 5 GBPS+ unmetered port (with my prefixes routed to them, I can try to do the BGP sessions myself if necessary). If you can recommend a provider who can do this for me, let me know. Please be aware that I will be using a lot of bandwidth 24/7, with a lot of open connections. Bare metal/dedicated servers are fine. $500-$600/mo budget, preferably less. We can test it out for a day (I can pay a little in advance which can be kept it even if it doesn't work out) if it's necessary to check if it'll put too much stress on their edge router.

So far I've contacted several providers on bgp.services trying to find someone who can do this, but the ones that have replied so far aren't in my preferred region and are pretty expensive. I also posted on reddit, and they told me to post here.

Ryzen Dedicated in US/Canada with reasonable bandwidth

I'm from Europe and looking at most offers in the north America, they all seem to have pretty limiting bandwidth or outrageous costs compared to European providers.

For the price of a Hetzner Ryzen 5 3600 box, best I could find with higher bandwidth limits (>100TB) was so long ago that I forgot from whom the offer even was, but I remember it was an i3... an i3 in a server for the same cost as the Ryzen 5 in EU.
I'm aware how different the marker and costs are compared to these two regions, but there must be some providers that offer more bandwidth for the price, right?

Is anyone able to point me to something that I can trust to be reliable meanwhile now blowing my wallet out into space.
At this point I'm looking for anything with appropriate specs (Ryzen 5 or newer Xeons), ~64GB RAM, >100TB transfer, 512-1TB SSD, optionally maybe an option for more IPs for not a lot of money? (>2$ per IP is too much for me)
My max budget would be ~50$-65$, that's what I'm aiming for.

Thanks in advance!

Do I need a Dedicated Server?

I have been hosting my sites on my current hosting company for 7 years. TBH, I am happy with them most of the time.

Since they were sold to another company, the tech support is getting worse. Each time it takes a long time for them to figure out what's going on. They always said the problem is on my side. But it turns out all the issues I complained locate on the server side. I had enough with those offshore tech support.

The second thing is: on my current plan, the server blocked a lot of proxy/Tor access, maybe for anti-spamming or whatever. And host-tacker shows some "HostNotFound" results, which I have not seen it from my friend's sites (we both run the same type of sites). So I lost some traffic as well.

That's why I am thinking to move my sites out.

My site is not big. Currently, I have 2500-3000 unique visits/day, and bandwidth/m is about 700 GB. I am thinking to try a dedicated server plan this time. Then I will have the faster page loading speed, which means better SEO, I guess? Hopefully I can get more traffic and more visits. And I won't get bothered by bad neighbors any more.

I checked a few dedicated plans, can you tell me what these mean? esp WAN uplink and LAN Uplink? Should it be included in total bandwidth?

1,000 Megabit WAN Uplink
1,000 Megabit LAN Uplink
25,000 GB Included Transfer

I read some articles about Dedicated IP vs Shared IP. It seems Dedicated IP is better than Shared IP. But for a small site like mine, do I really need a dedicated server?

I am thinking of mojohost as some friends recommend them. Do they have a coupon or I can negotiate with them for a discount?

Any advises are appreciated.
