Hello,
I apologize if I'm not using the right terminology or if I am really new to this.
A few months ago, I started a website where people can upload short videos (50 MB max). Unfortunately, some users have complained that the upload speed on my website is lower compared to similar websites. The upload speed on my website only reaches 8mbps but the two similar websites have upload speed between 12-16 mbps. After talking to the host about the problem, they told me the following: There's still an issue which we'll be resolving in the future with our network that when there's a high latency between the server and the client the connection will slow down for some reason.
I have tested my website and the 2 similar websites from my home internet and the internet of several other friends, and I have seen similar results for the upload speed.
I am currently using a VPS from Scalahosting and their customer service has been amazing, but I do want to change providers as I would like my users to have a higher upload speed when uploading videos.
I wanted to see if anyone has any suggestions on what host I can use for either a dedicated server or a streaming server? I am really new to this so I would need a managed services. The budget is not a problem so any server with a high upload speed for the users will be good.
Any help would be appreciate it.
Hi dear friends,
I have a dedicated server from Hetzner network. They are have about 500mbps download /300mbps upload speed. But when i install windows server (server 2012 and 2019) that upload speed is very down about 15-20mbps.
I use iis with default config. My test file is 3.7gb iso file. When i download from windows iis website i get 1.5megabyte/s speed from my home(i have 50mbps internet). But when i try it with linux rescue system and apache2 i got 6megabyte/s speed from my home. So my home maximum download speed already 5-6mb/s. But i dont understand why getting slower when i try it on server 2012 and 2019. I try many think, i need help.
its my server upload speed screen shoots:

Fresh install windows server 2012(i was try 2019 same result...) IIS download test from my home:

I have been hetzner customer for past 2 years. i run online online academy (online classes), for which i am using bigbluebutton.
monthly Bandwidth consumption is <1TB.
Processor EV-3 4 cores 8threads
32gb ram ECC
1gb NIC
raid 1 3TBx3
my only purpose of having dedicated server was dedicated 1gbps port that can handle over 60 concurrent users.
Their support is good, network WAS good as well.
But now i am having alot of ping drops and distortions in my class from past 1 month.
i have contacted hetzner and they have said that their network is running fine.
I have done few checks and it shows

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider
Hetzner is saying that problem is out of their network so they cant do anything.
what should I do? should i shift to other host in USA or Canada? My current server is germany.
can anyone suggest affordable host <50USD
I am looking to buy a dedicated server for my video project, I have multiple video upload at the same time each video I upload is about 2-3 GB in size and about 2-3 hours in length (TV Series/Movies). Currently I am using Intel Xeon E5-1650V3 dedicated server with 128GB of RAM with dedicated port link speed 1GBPS but when I convert mp4/avi videos into HLS using FFMPEG it takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour on each video to convert but I need some faster solution that can do within less then 15 minutes. Some hosting companies recommends to add GPU in it.Please recommend me a dedicated server specification that can handle version conversion very fast. features I will be using CentOS7, FFMPEGLooking forward for recommendations
IOFLOOD 3 Month Review
I signed up with IOFLOOD for a Dual E5-2680v2 dedicated server about 3 months ago and wanted to give an update.
When signing up there is a 24-72 hour set up time. They were able to set me up earlier as I was a Webnx refugee. (If set up time is important to you, just take a note)
Let's talk speed, the speed test's download is 600 Mbps and upload 400 Mbps
Now, server response time for webpages is 100 MS or less from the tests done.
Sometimes email response time is a little slower than the liquid webs of the world. (10 minute response time or less). But we have had little reason to contact support.
Most important of all is uptime. We have had 100% uptime since signing up. We did have downtime recently for a ram upgrade. (Which is to be expected).
So, I would give them an A+
I have upgraded some features of my server. But current specs and price are below. I added additional RAM from the base set up and some additional IP's.. But couldn't be happier with the service and the price is quite reasonable.
Server specs and price
Dual E5-2680v2, 100TB / mo bandwidth on 1gbps, 256GB RAM, 2x 1.6TB NVMe SSD, unmanaged, 2x /29 IPs, $191.50.
we are currently running local online class with average brandwidth of <1TB per month. Our server uses open source class software.
unfortunately our network authority blocked all VOIPs and WebRTC connections. So we are planning to buy server either dedicated or VPS to run our own VPN. what hosting do you suggest?
As VPN uses very little space even 1gb ram would suffice with 10-20gb HDD.
we were planning to go for some VPS but our problem is network speed. which we think we require dedicated network speed. what you guys suggest?
we have over 90 concurrent students.
budget is low
Hi all,
I'm new here and this my first post
So I'd like to get my own dedicated server and set it up at home to be used for games only but I have no idea what kind of specs that is needed when it comes to servers and the distribution of system resources such as CPU, RAM etc. Storage is self explained obviously.
I'm looking to host like a Minecraft server, 7 days to die server, Rust server etc but in general, if possible to say, how many game servers can you run on a single machine?
What is a good server Intel Xeon CPU these days that is not overkilling my needs to run a few game servers on the machine? Is 64 GB of RAM enough to start with?
What is best for my needs when it comes to the server type like a tower or a rack?
I'm just trying to get an estimated cost to set this all up and i'm a bit overwhelmed what is enough and not so my apologies if I don't provide much information so if you need any more details in order to assist, let me know and I'd be happy to be more specific in the topic .
Internet speed is not an issue as I have 1 Gbit up and down.
Thanks in advance!
Hello folks - hope you're well...
What kind of server arrangement would you recommend for someone who wants to start and gradually scale a SaaS (software as a service)?
For example, let's say they have an online app.
People login to the app, use it, and then logout.
More users will be added to the app over time.
The performance (and speed) of the app shouldn't be affected for existing users, as more people start using the app.
Let's assume the app starts with a handful of users.
But, over time, the app becomes *really* successful - which requires many concurrent MySQL database calls, etc.
We wouldn't want to start overpaying for hosting when starting, but wouldn't like to later have to move to a different server either.
Maybe Amazon EC2 or AWS - or something similar would fit the bill?
Anything else one should keep in mind?
Thanks!
an guy providing me hetzner dedicated server at 6800INR ( 76.91 EURO ) ( 93.22 USD )
here is configuration :-
-Intel Xeon E3-1275v5 (3.8 ghz,boostable upto 4.5 ghz) (8 threads)
-ipv4 1 ip
-ipv6 (/64 subnet)
-Ram: 64 GB(ECC DDR4)
-Storage: 2x 512 GB high speed NVME SSD(m.2) (700mbps - 1.5gbps) (software raid included)
Port speed: dedicated 1GBps(unmetered)
- NIC 1 Gbit - Intel I210 (network controller)
Location :- Germany
i want the same server from hetzner directly. i searched in server auction but NIC is I219 did not find I210
anyone could tell is I219 is better than I210 or not? i am newbie
and the configuration he sent same config is available in hetzner or not?
and that guy said he have rack from hetzner, what about it??
i am asking in forum because i can get more knowledge and explaination here
please share your replies.
Not sure if this is the right category.. I want to know what makes a server speedy. My issue is, I tried about 6 servers the last 6 months.
Reseller Hostmantis (5$ a month)
VPS cloudcone 10 core 16 GB ram (50$) a month + cpanel (15$) + litespeed (30$) a month
VPS from a dutch guy, 8 core, 16GB ram, directadmin (70 a month)
Cloudcone VPS: 10 cores, 60GB ram, Cpanel + litespeed = like 70 a month).
Wpprovider (claims to have to fastest dutch hosting): 25,- a month.
Neostrada magento hosting (6 core, 8GB ram, cpanel = 20,- a month)
Believe it or not, but the freaking 5$ per month SHARED (!!!!) RESELLER (!!!!!) is the fastest of them all. And I really don't understand how that is possible. Is there anybody who can explain to me what makes a server fast? First I thought it was litespeed, so i bought a litespeed license for by VPS'ses. Then I thought it was the lack of RAM, so i went to Contabo with 60 freaking GB of ram WITH litespeed. And even that is slower if I 1:1 compare it with a 100% duplicated site on that Hostmantis reseller package...
Then a guy from Asia who tried to improve the pagespeed for a webshop copied the site to his dedicated server and the results were INSANELY fast. I asked him his config and he said:
2 X Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650
32 Cores
64 GB ram
2 X SSD Drive
He said he didn't had Litespeed, only Memcache installed.
Is there anybody who can tell me what makes a server fast? Is it the RAM? the CPU? The managing? The location? The LITEspeed/Memcached/Redis? And when does it make sense to get a Dedicated server instead of a VPS?
About me: As side job I build websites. Most of them very easy, 3 page wordpress sites with no visitors. I host about 60. They don't really care about speed, cause they are happy if there are There are some bigger clients (3 with a woocommerce webshop, 1 with a magento webshop) for which speed IS important.
What I would like is
THE FASTEST Server possible for my amount
At least 500GB SSD storage
Managed
Backups remotely (and something like JEtbackup)
Softacalous
Cpanel + WHM (100 accounts)
Budget: Under like 180$ for all (if that is anyway possible).
Hi
I am tasked to purchase a new server for our network. Basically the idea is to consolidate 2 servers with VMs into one more powerful server.
Current configuration is 2xE5-2680v4 with 128GB ram per server.
I am thinking about something like AMD Epyc 7702P with 256GB of memory, but I am not completely sure about it. Yes, this server has lots of cores, but the base clock speed of this CPU is lower than what we currently have.
I did some research and this CPU seems to be more powerful compared on a sheet, but is it on reality?
We are mainly using those servers for hosting our websites, some big databases. My question is do you think we will see significant performance increase if we do this upgrade, beside saving some money on datacenter costs (consolidating 4U into 1U server)?
